Sponsorship Program

The sponsorship program within The Children’s Home Project exists to bridge the gap between the children who we love and need encouragement and those who desire to do more. We at TCHP recognize the power of building personal meaningful relationships, especially for our children coming from a place of trauma. Your monthly donation will go towards various costs associated with caring for the children like food, clothing, medical needs, transportation and education. But the biggest impact will be the relationship you can develop with your child.

Throughout the year we offer opportunities for sponsors to send letters, pictures, and small gifts down to their sponsor child. These small mail items are a reminder to the child that they are remembered, are special. Knowing that there is another person who cares about them can give them the strength to continue studying, moving forward and leaving their past behind them. This is most definitely not a requirement, but even a picture can change a kiddo’s day!

As a sponsor you will receive:

  • Updates/pictures from your sponsor child throughout the year

  • Opportunities to send items down to your sponsor child

  • Birthday celebration invites to donate or send gifts for your sponsor child’s birthday

  • Opportunities to support the different holidays and festivities that your child enjoys throughout the year (Examples- Christmas, Day of the Child, etc.)

Cost of Sponsorship

Your monthly donation will be used to support the program in which your child participates. Your generosity could cover the costs of things like food, counseling appointments, family visits, clothing, etc.  We can’t do this without you!

We currently have three donation levels.  Let us know if you would like to support at a different amount.

  • $50/month -  Basic level

  • $100/month - Leveled up level

  • $150/month - Rockstar level

 FAQs

  • We would love for you to commit until your child leaves the program. And then we’d love to connect you with a new child. But we understand that circumstances change. If you need to end your support for whatever reason, please contact us at sponsorship@tchproject.org.

  • 5% of your monthly donation will offset the costs incurred by the sponsorship program.

  • Because it costs significantly more than the highest tier of $105 per month to care for our children, it is likely that s/he will have more than one sponsor. We also hope that sponsorship leads to a personal connection and we would love for our kids to feel loved by and connected to many caring adults!

  • If a child leaves our program, you will be contacted about continuing to support the program in general or to be connected with another child.

  • Your monthly support is the most important part as it gives us financial stability and the means to care for our kids. If you want to go even further, you will periodically have the chance to send letters and small gifts to the child you sponsor. We also try to host a yearly sponsor trip down to Honduras!

  • That’s just fine. Our sponsorship coordinator will translate your letters before they are delivered.

  • Our sponsorship coordinator can help you with that as well. You can simply share with your sponsor kiddo about your life. Include pictures of your pets, your kids, the beautiful flower you see on your daily walk. They’d love to get to know you!

  • If you are unable to communicate regularly with your kiddo, that is truly fine. Most importantly, we ask that you not make any promises to your child. If you sign up and you really want to come visit. Great! But don’t communicate that desire until your flight is booked. A very important part of building trust is when the people in their lives follow through on what they say they will do and we guard that as much as possible!

  • Yes, for the safety of our kids, all communication will be read even if it the child’s sponsor writes their letters in Spanish.

  • Yes, as long as it is small. A few times a year, you will have the opportunity to send a gift to a staff member or volunteer heading to Honduras. Please keep it small and light as the traveler will have limited luggage space.

  • Oh my, my. We are so sorry. We do try to remind the kids that sponsors are not Santa. Please let us know if this is happening (unless you have specifically asked your child what s/he would like) and we’ll talk with them about it!

  • Yes, we will hopefully plan our next sponsor trip in 2025!
